Vic Blackman, 88, of the Grantham community passed away Sunday, April 02, 2017 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday evening, April 04, 2017 at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory with the Reverend Dennis Pollock officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 05, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Vic was a native of Wayne County born on October 22, 1928 to the late Jimmie and Sallie Faircloth Blackman.  He retired from W.P. Rose after 63 years of dedicated service.  Vic retired as an honorary member of the Grantham Volunteer Fire Department.  He was a hardworking man and the most genuine person you would ever meet.  He loved to farm and work in his yard.  Vic’s greatest and best accomplishment was his family.  He will greatly be missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by his two daughters, Barbara Blackman of Grantham and Vickie Blackman Creech of Grantham; four grandchildren, Carla Creech, Tori Creech-Swencki (Mike), Tracy Boyette Robinson (Cameron) and Nicole Olive (Justin) and five great-grandchildren, Haleigh, Bella, Ellie, Jack and Colton.

In addition to his parents, Vic was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Cole Blackman.

Although flowers are welcome, memorial contributions may be directed to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534 in Vic’s memory.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
