Dennis Moore, 63, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Wayne UNC Health Care .

A Homegoing Service will be held Sunday, November 27, 2016 at 6 p.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro. Viewing will be held one hour prior to service at 5 p.m. A graveside service will be held Monday, November 28, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro with full military honors.

Dennis Moore was the son of Willie Mae Moore and the late Ellis Moore. He was born on December 3, 1952 in Kings County, Brooklyn, New York. Dennis attended High School in Brooklyn where he would graduate and enter the Air Force.

He traveled extensively throughout his career. He was in the Vietnam war. Later he would go on to Goldsboro NC where he would meet his 1st wife through his friend, Jerry Cauthen and lady, Vicky Cauthen. Vicky would go on to introduce him to her sister, Theresa Moore. They wedded and had two beautiful children named LaShanda and Derrick. They were married for 23 years before divorcing. There kids would go on to give them two beautiful grandkids by the name of Kahlil and Jyna’.

Later, after his family was grown and gone, he would go on to be with his 2nd love in his life, Michele Moore. There is where his family would grow with 5 more kids. He loved and treated those kids just as his own. Devon, Stephanie, Tracy, Lisa and Steve would help add to more beautiful grandchildren and even great grandkids.

Dennis traveled extensively around the world throughout his military career. Germany was the place that held his heart the most. Dennis loved to play his music loud and grill. He never cared what the season was he was out there. The one person that picked the habit up was his son Derrick, who took after him. He had a love for movies. The one movie he was obsessed with just like his late sister Diane, was Godzilla. He loved that his son-in-law loved that movie like him and the fact that his daughter would still be tortured by it was funny to him. One more crazy thing was his love for the Jerry Springer Show and Steve Harvey.

Dennis had a way of making you feel loved and welcomed. He had a personal relationship with Jesus. He always would say it’s not where you worship, but that you do it how you feel is best for you. He knew that if his problems were in God’s hands he would come through. It may not have been when he wanted it but it was always on time. This time God heard his cries and couldn’t let him suffer no more. Now he with his late sibling Diana Ross and Darien Moore. I know that made him so happy to see them when he got to the cross road.

With memories of his loving and giving heart, he will live on in our memory. There’s not one person I know that he came across that he didn’t touch. With that being stated, we will miss your humor in any situation and comforting us as a son, husband, brother, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, son-in-law, cousin and a great friend.

He dearly will be missed. During this time, I would like to list the people that were instrumental in his life and making his life full. First in for most his mother, Willie Mae Moore; wife of 12 yrs., Michele Moore; ex-wife of 23 yrs., Theresa Moore; his living siblings, Linda Washington, Arlette Moore and Pamala Moore; his biological kid,  Lashanda Lockette (Mark Lockette), Kahlil Lockette, Derrick Moore, Jyna’ Moore; Steven Bailey, Lisa O’ Brian, Tracy Rella, Stephanie Giaimo and Devon Jackson; his nephew and nieces, Jay, Tracy, Latosha, Lisa, Kisha, Tosha, Lawanda, Natalia, Clinton, Tyron, Tyeis, Sean, Kenny and Elizabeth; brother-in-law, James Jones, & Michael;  sister-in-law, Delois Jones and Vicky Cauthen; 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandkids.
