Doris Lee Ayars, 85, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 28, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.  Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park North.  A viewing will be held Monday, November 28, 2016 at 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.

She was born in Hamlet, NC on March 07, 1931 to the late Robert and Sallie Smith Davis.  Mrs. Ayars graduated from Capital Highway School in Hamlet, NC in 1949.  She later married in 1949 and to this union two children were born.  After their birth she migrated to Brooklyn, New York.  After moving to Brooklyn she was blessed with two more children.  She continued her adult life in Brooklyn for 53 years.  After retiring, Mrs. Ayars relocated back to Goldsboro, North Carolina.  Mrs. Ayars attended St. Mark Church of Christ.

She leaves to cherish her memories; two special daughters, Alexia Amed of Lancaster, PA and Vickey Wilson of Goldsboro; her sister, Barbara Pratt of Brooklyn, New York; grandchildren, Tonya, Nathaniel, Edward, Kenny, Terence and Calvin; special grandsons, Aaron and Allen and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ayars was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Ayars; all four children, Dwight Taylor, Toni Nissen, Sharon Bailey and Nathaniel Taylor; brothers, Juan Davis and Thomas Belton and a special daughter, Rita Pratt.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
