Maxine Pate Sasser, 95, of the Patetown community went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.
Homegoing service will be held Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. Interment will follow at Pate Farm Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
Ms. Sasser was born in Wayne County on June 5, 1928 to the late George Melvin and Sallie Mae Gardner Pate. She was a faithful charter member of United in Christ Church and retired nurse from Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro.
Those cherishing her memories include her daughter, Jenny Garris; one brother, Mickey Forehand and wife, Barbara; two grandsons, Jake Garris and wife, Emily and Cody Garris and wife, Tara and their children, Jackson and Adaline and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Raymond Sasser; and one son, Randy Kent Sasser; one son-in-law, Tony "Cowboy" Garris; one brother, Joseph Albert "Abbie" Forehand and two sisters, Sarah Smith and Mavis Williford.
Although flowers are welcome, memorial contributions can be made to United in Christ Church, 1314 Patetown Road, Goldsboro, North Carolina 27530.
