Hettie Virginia King

Hettie Virginia King, 83, Mt. Olive went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Northeast Chapel FWB Church in Mount Olive.  Interment will follow at Jones Cemetery in Mount Olive.  Viewing will be held Wednesday from 12 p.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. King was born in Wayne County on October 29, 1935 to the late James Kent Pigford and Virginia King Pigford.  She was a member of Union Star FWB Church in Clinton where she served as a Mother.

She leaves to cherish her two sons, Alton Worrell (Virginia) of New York and David Worrell (Rudy) of Wilson; seven daughters, Pamela Miller (James) of Goldsboro, Paulette Jones of the home, Patricia King (Lester) of Fayetteville, Panis McKinney (Ottis) of Mount Olive, Penelope King (H. Best) of Mount Olive, Phyllis Kornegay (Tyrone) of Mount Olive and Phoebe Highsmith (Alex Adika) of Mount Olive; one sister, Johnnie Lea Bowden of Dudley; sister-in-law, Lillie Mae Reid of Goldsboro; niece whom she raised, Sheila Harr (Kevin) of Dudley; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Jones and two sons, Kenneth King and David Edwards.

Professional services have been entrusted to the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
