Heaven’s gates opened to accept the spirit of Willie James Brewington aka Boo on the evening of June 10, 2026.  Willie was born in Wayne County on August 10, 1944 to the late Edward and Oletha Holmes Brewington.  His siblings are Ann (deceased), Edward (deceased), Clifton, Inez, Delores (deceased), Vera, Lamont, and Kenneth.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 30 years and then best friend, Olivia Crawford.  He leaves to cherish his memories his daughter, Kecia Uyeno and her husband, Robert and his daughter, Valerie Kittrell;  four grandchildren, William, Miles (Alexis), Tianna and Matthew and six great-grandchildren, Antonio, Kailani, Miles II, Keanu, Olivia and Michah.

 

He voluntarily enlisted and proudly served in the United States Army in 1964 and following his honorable discharge he worked for the US Postal Service in the largest mail center in NYC.  He then worked as a Protection Officer for J.P. Morgan for more than 20 years.

 

Willie was known for his love of all things sports from tennis to football.  He was recognized during his mall walks wearing his variety of sports caps to represent his favorite teams:  Duke, LA Dodgers, NY Giants and of course NY Knicks!!  He was also a history buff and even in his latter years his brain remained sharp as he easily recalled names, dates, and places of historical worldly and sport events.

 

Willie loved the Lord and was a devoted Christian who loved to spread the good news with gospel tracks.  Two of his favorites from the bible were Joshua 1:9 and Psalms 91.

 

Homegoing service will be held Friday, June 19, 2026 at noon in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.  Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley.
