Obituary
Thomas Steele Herring, 67, of the Grantham community passed away Christmas morning, December 25, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Thomas was born in Wayne County on December 26, 1954 to the late James Lamont Herring Sr. and Carol Thornton Herring. He was employed with Herring Milling Company in Grantham. Thomas enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Sara Stevens Herring; one son, Tyler Steele Herring of Grantham; one daughter, Cristyl Herring Hood and husband, Scuttie of Grantham; one brother, Jon Esten Herring of Florida; one sister, Vivian McIntosh and husband, Mack of Dudley; one grandson, who was the apple of his eye, Cuyler Shane Jones and his beloved dogs, Rex and Shiloh.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Herring and David Herring.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, December 28, 2022 from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
