Sgt. Ben Reid Jr.

Benjamin Reid Jr. AKA Ben Reid Jr. was born to the late Ben Reid Sr. and Elnora Harvey Reid on January 14, 1942.  He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 55 years, Lois G. Reid on May 1, 2020.  He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Reid; three brothers; James Eddie Reid, Thomas Western Reid and Charles B. Reid. Left to cherish his memories; two daughters, Angela Trinette Reid and Stephanie Patrice Reid; five grandchildren, Cameron RaShawn Rowe, Benjamin Alexander Reid, Trever Brian Reid, Kristopher Nicholas Reid and Skylar Trinette Reid; three sisters, Shirley Reid Dixon, Betty Jean Braswell and Oteria Jean Colebrook (Mark). His special friends/family Billy Harvey and Willie Coley spent a great deal of time with Ben.  He had an over-abundance of friends, family, and co-workers who will also cherish his memories.

Benjamin Reid Jr. graduated from Norwayne High School in 1962.  He began his career as a cook at O’Berry Center in his early 20’s and became a part time police officer in his early 20’s.  He retired from O’Berry as a supervisor tech with 29 years of service with the state and became a full -time police officer.   He accepted the police chief position and established many awards and certificates as an officer.  He worked in the courthouse and was also a member of the deputy sheriff association. Ben accepted Christ as His Savior on July 7, 2021.
