Reyes “Rey” Manuel Torres Sr. formerly of Bronx and Brooklyn, NY entered into eternal rest, October 18th, 2022 after a short battle with Leukemia.
Rey was preceded in death by his wife, Pastora; parents, Guillermina Irizzary Torres and Antonio Torres; siblings, Miguel Antonio, Luis Antonio, Miguel Angel and Delia Torres; sons, Louis Vasquez, Armando Reyes, George Reyes and granddaughter, Jeida Torres.
Rey honorably served in the United States Army and retired from the textiles industry where he worked at different positions until he retired as a Senior Printer.
He is survived by children, Reyes Jr. and wife, Gina; daughter, Reina Esmeralda Foster and husband, William; daughter, Reina Estrella; son, Pedro Torres; daughter, Ruby Lynn Torres and son, Alejandro Torres; grandchildren, Maryann Vasquez, Christina Marie Torres, Destiny Tianna Banks, Brianna Nikol Purnell, Infinitee Marie Morales, Alexis Rae Hepburn, Marlon Antonio Manuel-Lewis, Reyes M Torres III, Kiara Li Lewis, Dominick Ivan Foster, Andrew Antonio Torres, George Reyes Torres and Lea Sophia Torres; great-grandchildren, Christopher George Torres, Paris Bass, Rome Bass, Dacota Wilcox, Tremaine Purnell, Roman Louis Maisonet, Noah Purnell and Briella Purnell. Rey is also survived by three sisters, Antonia Torres, Elba Alvarez and Monserrate Rodriguez and husband, Woden.
“Pop” as he will forever be affectionately remembered dedicated himself to his family. Some of Pops interest and hobbies were his pigeons, his garden and later in life his Community Green Thumb Garden. He was known throughout the neighborhood as the man who could grow anything with a little bit of dirt. He would host classes from the local elementary school where he would show the different flowers and vegetables he would grow.
A graveside service at will be held at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 164 Longs Plant Farm Road in Goldsboro on Friday, November 4, 2022 at 12 p.m.
