Reverend Bobby Lee Futrell, 77, of Pikeville went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at UNC Health Wayne in Goldsboro.
Homegoing service will be held Friday, May 5, 2023 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. Interment will follow at Pikeville Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born in Wayne County on January 9, 1946 to the late Leon Randolph and Matalda Ham Futrell. He was a disabled veteran of the United States Air Force. Reverend Futrell was an ordained Free Will Baptist Minister where he pastored several churches in eastern North Carolina for nearly 50 years. He loved the Lord and ministered whenever he was needed.
Reverend Futrell is survived by his devoted wife, Edith Jones Futrell; two sons, Jerry Futrell and wife, Carol of Dudley and Reverend William Futrell and wife, Tracy of Nashville, NC.; six grandchildren, Chad Brogden (Ashley), Lorenda Brogden (Robert), Anthony Brogden (Betsy), Drew Futrell (Lorah), Sam Futrell and Rebekah Futrell; five great-grandchildren, Joel, Aleea, Josiah, Nico, Chad Jr. and twins on the way; his sister-in-law, Annette Futrell of Goldsboro and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Milton Futrell and Johnny Futrell and his sister, Joyce Toler.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Reverend Futrell may be directed to Cragmont Assembly, 1233 North Fork Road, Black Mountain, North Carolina 28711.
