Penny Christine Anderson, beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, May 4th, 2022, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
A time of visitation will be held Saturday, May 14, 2022 from 10:30 a.m. until Noon at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
She was born in Syracuse, NY, on September 27th, 1947, to John Penny and Elizabeth Marvin. Penny adored, and spent much time with, her cherished grandmother “Nan” throughout her early life, and also spent her summers in Massachusetts with her beloved aunts. After graduating from SUNY Canton in 1967, she lived and worked in Syracuse for many years. She moved to Florida after meeting, and marrying, the love of her life, Robert (Rob) Anderson. They made their final move in 1999, making NC their permanent home. Penny was employed with Novo Nordisk Pharmaceutical in Clayton for 17 years, until her retirement in 2016.
Penny loved spending time with her family, hosting many memorable holiday gatherings. She had an exceptional flair in the kitchen and enjoyed whipping up magnificent desserts. (Her sweet tooth was legendary, as was her key lime pie!) Traveling was one of her favorite past times, and she especially loved taking cruises with Rob. Penny particularly loved the beach, and was perhaps the happiest when her toes were in the sand at Topsail Beach. She was spunky, fun-loving, spontaneous, kind-hearted, and generous, and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Penny is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 28 years, Robert (Rob) Anderson; sisters Jayne Baranowski of Florida, Rosemary Treacy (Kevin) of Michigan, and Therese Brown of NY; brothers Robert Brown (Kathleen) of Tennessee, and Joseph Brown of New Mexico; niece Rhonda Oliver (Ray) of Apex; nephew Jeffery Elston (Christina) of Wilmington; Daniel Wagner of Newton; grandnephews Evan (Hannah), Drew, and Chase Oliver, all of Apex, and Zachary Elston, of Wilmington; grandnieces Isabella Elston of Wilmington, and Mason Wagner, of Newton. She is also survived by numerous other family members and cherished friends.
In addition to her parents, Penny was preceded in death by sisters, Kathy Brown and Maureen Brown, and brothers, David Marvin and James Brown.
