Nancy Earlean Best Holmes, 93, went to her heavenly home Friday, November 21, 2025 at Harmony Nursing Home in Wilson.

Homegoing service will be held Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. at St. James Church of Christ Disciples of Christ in Fremont where she was a member.  Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley.  Viewing will be held prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. at the church.

Ms. Holmes was born in Wayne County on October 3, 1932 to the late Tom and Carrie Armwood Best.  

She leaves to cherish her memories to her son, James Morris Holmes of Wilson; two daughters, Ava Holmes Pleasant of Greensboro and Mirriam Holmes Locus and husband, Robert of Fremont; her son-in-law, Prince Charles Hamilton of Fremont; nine grandchildren; her great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Holmes was preceded in death by her daughter, Geral Everlean Holmes Hamilton and her twelve siblings, William, James, Lee Harvey, Paul, Silas, Mary, Martha, Luther, Roxie, Mathew, Carrie and Winnie.
