Elaine Myrtle Morgan peacefully departed from us on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, after bravely battling health issues for several years. During that time, Elaine continued to be an inspiration to people of all ages because of her positivity and strength. What we know to be true is "being deeply loved gives you strength; loving deeply gives you courage".
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. A visitation will follow the service.
Myrtle Elaine Morgan was born in Washington D.C. on August 15, 1949 to Minnie Jean Steward and John Chiles. Elaine grew up in Johnson City, TN where she graduated from Science Hill high school in 1967- She later returned to Washington D.C. where she started as a bank teller with the 1st Federal Savings and Loan from 1975 to 1981.
After establishing her professional foundation Elaine sought and obtained the position of executive assistant to Mr. Arthur McZier, National Business Service Enterprise where she was a devoted employee for 23 years before transitioning to the position of Human Resources generalist for IDI for IO years. Elaine concluded her professional career with retiring from IDI in 2013- Upon retirement, she delved herself into her hobbies which included shopping, puzzles, crocheting and watching sci-fi movies as well as enjoying spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 30 years, Luke Morgan. She leaves behind her devoted children, Paula Y. Graham (Paul) of Pikeville, NC, Toni E. Wrighton (Walter) of Hinesville, Ga, Melaine A. Ewing (Hassan Salhhadin) of Cary, NC, William T. Byrd of Washington D.C., Millicent L. Forbes of Capital Heights, MD., Jeanette L. Byrd of Capital Heights, MD, Jeffrey A. Morgan of Forestville, MD; One sister, Bonnie J. Brown (Lawrence) of Landover, MD; One brother, David Chiles (Margaret) of Fort Washington, MD; 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
