Mary Pickens Obituary

Mary E. Pickens, 88, of Goldsboro, North Carolina closed her eyes to rest on March 16, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born on March 5, 1935 to the late Clarence Buck and Naomi Battle.

Mary married at a early age and spent her life taking care of her children and helping others take care of theirs. Mary started studing the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses for many years and dedicated her life to HIM in 1980. Mary spent years talking and teaching others about Jehovah. She would often refer them to the scripture at Isaiah 41:10 when they were having anxiety problems or anything they needed encouragement with. She loved Jehovah until she took her last breath. Mary was a kind and generous person never wavering from that love.  Anything she had she was always sharing. "If I got it, you got it" she would always say.  She gave it freely no matter what it was, to know her was to love her.

Mary had no biological sisters but she gained many when she dedicated her life to Jehovah.  But outside of that many for almost 48 years, she had a special group which included Hazel Patterson, Patricia Barry, Linda Herring and Melta Lockwood.  They became her biological sisters and she loved them dearly.

Mary was preceded by her parents, Clarence Buck and Naomi Battle; her husband, Joe Pickens; her sons, Jimmy McKeller and Marcus C. McKeller; her granddaughter, Quanisha McKeller and her great-grandchildren, Kamron Battle, Ameria Williams and Aaniyah McKeller.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Clarence McKeller, Mary Roddick, Blanche Lambeth, Vicky McKeller, Thelma McKeller, Linburgh McKeller Jr. and Rebecca Holloway (Richard).  She also leaves her grandchildren, Joakima Means, Sonya Pleasant (Tyrone), Shearney McKeller ( Margaret ), Tesha Kinsey, Antonio McKeller, D'ante McKeller, Christopher Williams (Tiara), Cyrenna Bell, Terrell Johnson and Marcus McKeller Jr. (Nesha) along with her great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Mary was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
