Margaret Davenport Gibbs, 83, passed away Monday, April 30, 2018 at the home of her daughter.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 03, 2018 at 7 p.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. The family will receive friends afterwards. A graveside service will be held Friday, May 04, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley.
Mrs. Gibbs was born in Lenoir County, NC on October 19, 1934 to the late Charles Jackson and Luella Cahoon Grady. Margaret was a hair dresser including fixing hair for people in nursing homes. She loved going to yard sales and at the same time she liked to have them also. Margaret loved her home in Goldsboro. The family would like to thank Home Health, Wages and her aids, Ms. Pat and Ms. Brenda. She will be missed by many.
She is survived by her husband, Russell Gibbs; two sons, Roland Edward Davenport and wife, Mary Ann of Snow Hill and Michael Lee Davenport of Texas; one daughter, Becky Thornton of Goldsboro; one sister, Margie Mae Jenkins of Indiana; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Gibbs was preceded in death by her first husband, Roland Thomas Davenport; three brothers, Linwood Earl Grady, Johnny Grady and Wayne Grady; two sisters, Louise Daly and Martha Ray Gay and her son-in-law, Joe Thornton.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
