Lueada Best Dawson was called home by the Lord on March 25, 2022. She was born in Wayne County to the late John Davis Best Sr. and Classie Broadhurst Best on July 18, 1933.
Homegoing services will be held Friday, April 1, 2022 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. Interment will follow at Broadhurst Cemetery on Indian Springs Road in Seven Springs. A viewing will be held Friday from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lueada attended Central High School in Goldsboro, North Carolina. She was a 1953 graduate. She was a faithful member of Best Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Seven Springs where she served on the Mother's board.
She lived and worked in Long Island, New York as a caregiver and later returned to Wayne County. Later, she attended Wayne Community College. Upon college completion, she was employed by the Wayne County School System before becoming employed with the State of North Carolina at O'Berry Center as a Health Care Technician. She retired in 1994.
Lueada is preceded in death by her husband, Ezekiel Dawson. She had six brothers, Henry Allen Best, John David Jr. Best, Jonah Joseph Best, Willie Russell Best, Robert Lee Best, Alphonso Augustus Best, and Ret. MSG Ray Eugene Best. She had one sister, Mary Frances Uzzell.
She is survived by four children, Patricia Ann Best, Malcom Earl Best, Classie Best Dawson, all of Goldsboro, NC and Ret. Master Sergeant Bobby Eugene Best of Waipahu, Hawaii. She has four grandchildren, Felicia Best, Tabitha Best, Dionte Best, Bobby Best Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Daniel Holmes, Joshua Holmes and Justin Holmes and many other relatives and friends.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
