Lieutenant Colonel Stanley Anthony Lesky, USAF, Retired, 87 of Goldsboro, died peacefully at his home on Monday, July 10, 2023.

He was born September 23, 1935, in Minersville, PA to the late Peter and Veronica Lesky.

He was a multi-sports standout at Minersville High School and received scholarships in both basketball and football. He attended Penn State University and received a master’s degree in business from the University of Nebraska.  Stan served his country for 25 years in the U.S Air Force and was stationed throughout the United States, Canada, Africa, Europe and the Far East. He flew reconnaissance missions during the Cuban crisis and completed 121 combat missions in Vietnam. He graduated from the Air Force Air War College and received the Outstanding Educational
Achievement Award from the Commander in Chief of the Strategic Air Command. In his post Air Force years, he was employed by the NC State Employment Commission and served as President and Chairman of the Wayne County Wildlife Club. He enjoyed reading and long walks with his dogs, Willy and Sammy.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rosemary; son, Brian and wife, Anne of Raleigh; daughter, Carolyn and significant other, Bryan Thelen of Mesa, AZ and a sister, Mary Margett
of South River, NJ. 

A graveside service for Stan will be held Friday, July 14, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with military honors.
