Lenora (Jones) Artis

Lenora Jones Artis, 91, of Goldsboro departed this earthly life Monday, April 18, 2022 at Wayne UNC Health Care in Goldsboro.

Homegoing service will be held Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.  Interment will follow at Golden Gate Cemetery in Pikeville.  Visitation will be held Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Artis was born in Wayne County on October 3, 1930 to the late Henry and Leah Fields Jones.  She was a member of Saint Rest Holiness Church in La Grange.

She leaves to cherish her memories four sons, Tommy Artis, Leonard Ray Artis and wife, Diane, Donnell Artis and wife, Sharon and Gary Artis; three daughters, Annie Applewhite and husband, Al, Brenda Lassiter and husband, Ralph and Lorene Artis; one brother, Edward Jones; two sisters, Ethel Mae Ham and Fannie Kornegay; her sister-in law, Ruth Jones; 13 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and close friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Artis was preceded in death by her husband, William Leonard Artis, also known as “Ham”; one brother, Henry Jones Jr. and two sisters, Frances Lewis and Lillie Bell Ham.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
