L.A. "Bob" Byrd

L.A. "Bob" Byrd, 91, of Fremont passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at his home with his wife by his side.

Bob was born in Wayne County on January 26, 1933 to the late Henry and Patty Pate Byrd. He was a retired farmer and avid fisherman who enjoyed being outdoors.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 70 years, Virginia Gaye Chase Byrd; two sons, Bobby Byrd and wife, Debbie of Fremont and Doug Byrd and wife, Debra of Fremont; one daughter, Faye Blizzard and husband, Floyd of Fremont; one brother, Floyd Byrd of Turkey, NC; one sister, JoAnn Weeks of Clinton; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Don W. Byrd and sisters, Mary Weeks, Mable Hickerson Chavis, Fannie Carter and Ila Faye Byrd.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fremont Holiness Church.

Anyone wishing to greet the family may do so at their residence in Fremont.
