Joe Louis Nettles, 86, of Goldsboro passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023 at UNC Health Wayne in Goldsboro.

Viewing will be held Wednesday, August 9, 2023 from 3 until 4:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.  Burial will be held privately for the family. 

Mr. Nettles was born in Alabama on November 28, 1936.  He was a member of Best Chapel Free Will Baptist Church where he attended while his health permitted.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Elizabeth Ford Nettles; two sons, Joseph Nettles and wife, Caroline of Minnesota and Morris Rowe; one daughter, Josephine Nettles of Goldsboro; one brother, William James Nettles of Mississippi; one sister-in-law, Bernice Ford of Goldsboro and two grandchildren, Janiya and Marquail. 

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Dosie Nettles.
