Jimmy Howell Obituary

Jimmy Ray Howell, 69, went to be with His Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Inpatient Hospice Care in Greenville, NC surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3:00 pm at Free Chapel PFWB Church with Revs. Ronnie Weaver and Dane Williford Officiating. Burial will follow at the PeeDee Howell Family Cemetery with Rev DeWayne Eakes closing remarks.  Family will receive friends from 2 until 2:45 pm at the church prior to the service.

Born in Wayne County on January 29, 1953, he was the son of the late Zeke and Edna Gray Eakes Howell.

Jimmy was a family man that Loved Jesus and people. He retired from Goldsboro Milling. After retirement he worked with Gerald on the farm, he also worked with the former Dawsons Collision and Glass and Advantage Auto.

He was a committed volunteer at Wayne Memorial Hospital and member of East Carolina Vintage Farm Equipment Club. He also took his duties as Assistant Sunday School Superintendent at Free Chapel PFWB seriously without missing a Sunday until recent sickness.

When Jimmy was truckin’ tobacco or delivering parts, he always had a smile on his face and a friendly handshake. He was a family man, not just to blood relatives, but to his community.

Jimmy took pride in showing off Zeke and Gerald’s tractor, “lil Henry”, in parades and area fairs. He loved his farming background. He was a hard worker, a man of his word and a handshake meant something to Jimmy. He would help anyone in need and always give to the less fortunate.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannette Cooke Howell; sister, Betty Howell Thatcher Daw and husband, David; sisters-in-law, Linda LaDell Howell; Deborah Howell; Margie Games; Lynn Norman and husband, Larry; a special 'step daughter’ Sherry Edwards Crosan and 12 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Adrian Howell and Gerald Howell and his brother-in-law, Shelton Games.

Flowers are welcome but memorial donations can be made to Cures for Colors, East Carolina Vintage Farm Equipment Club or a memorial of your choice.
