Jesse Lorance Cox, 63, of Goldsboro passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.



Funeral service will be held Monday, February 1, 2021 at 1 p.m in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. Burial will follow the service at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley with military honors. Viewing will be held prior to the service from 12 until 12:45 p.m. at the funeral home.



Mr. Cox was born in Wayne County on April 19, 1957 to the late Samuel Lee Cox Sr. and LeAnna Coor Cox. He was a member of the First African Baptist Church, where he served on the Trustee Board. Jesse retired from the U.S. Army where he served his country for many years. He retired from the 691st Army National Guard in Fremont, N.C., and he also retired from the City of Goldsboro. He was a very active member in the community and will be deeply missed.



He is survived by his wife, Teresa Manley Cox; two sons: Richard R. Harris, III (Leila) and Nardaron R. Cox; one daughter, Jessica S. Cox; eight brothers, two sisters: Samuel L Cox, Jr (Aymee), Claretta C. Newsome (Bernard), Marvin Cox (Lynn), James Emmett ( Brenda), Johnnie Lee (Tonya), Walker M. (Jacqueline), Shaheed Abdur-Rahman, Joddie Ann Davis (Roderick), Philip Cox, Curtis P. (Tammy), and seven grandchildren.




In addition to his parents: Samuel L. Cox, Sr. and LeeAnna Coor Cox, he was preceded in death by his son, Raymond E. Parker Jr. and three sisters: Willie Mae Cox, Valeria M. Cox, and Aileen C. Jones.
