Jean (Wellington) Townsend

Jean Wellington Townsend, 83, went to her heavenly home Friday, March 25, 2022 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Homegoing service will be held Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Greenleaf Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Goldsboro.  The church will require the wearing of masks and proof of vaccination.  Burial will follow at Golden Gate Cemetery in Pikeville.  Visitation will be held Friday, April 1, 2022 from 4 until 6 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. 

Mrs. Townsend was a faithful and dedicated member of Greenleaf Christian Church Disciples of Christ where she served as Deaconess.  She was a former Sunday School Superintendent, President of the Willing Workers Club, and served in Unity Mass Choir.  Mrs. Townsend also was past Worthy Matron of Lady Love Chapter #6 Order of the Eastern Star, PHA.  She will be missed by all.

Deaconess Townsend is survived by her loving family including one son, Corey Townsend of Goldsboro; one daughter, Adrienne Townsend Greene of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, Quamaria Greene (Shaneka), Rictaveon Greene (Michela), Maurice Douglas Townsend II, and Mychal E. Townsend and one great-grandchild, Kalliope Arianne Greene.

She was preceded in death by one son, Maurice Douglas Townsend.

Services are entrusted to the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
