James McLaurin Obituary

Mr. James H. McLaurin, son of Duncan and Christine M. McLaurin, was born September 2, 1925 in Wilson County, North Carolina. He departed this walk of life on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

 

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 29, 2020 from 5 until 6:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.  A graveside service will be held Friday, October 30, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley. 

 

He attended early school in the Greene County Public School System.  He was a member of Woods Chapel FWB Church serving as a faithful parking attendant for many years.  Even after the days of parking cars and directing traffic, he still enjoyed and attended service regularly.  He attended the Northwest B Conference every year for over 50 years. 

 

He was an avid landscaper and took pride in his work. He would often point out certain businesses and various locations where he personally planted trees and shrubs from Goldsboro to Greenville and other surrounding areas.

 

On June 13, 1949, he was united in marriage to the late Maybelle Kornegay.  To this union was born six children.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, a brother, Clifton McLaurin and two sisters, Margaret M. Uzzell and Maggie M. Kornegay.

 

He leaves to cherish his memories, his children, Eldress Mildred M. Ross, Cynthia M. (Gabriel) Whitfield, James (Thelma), Ronald (Cathy), Demarcus (Kimberly), all of Goldsboro, NC and Kelton (Deloris) of Garner, NC; his sister, Bessie M. Barnes of Winston Salem, NC and a very special nephew, Herman L. Lewis of LaGrange, NC; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Annie McLaurin, Nancy Brooks, Ella Lewis, Bessie (Charles) Jackson, Vera (Paul) Peoples, Beatrice (Charles) Gillis, all of Goldsboro, Bertha (Alvin) Johnson of Clinton, MD, Rose (Eric) Sims of Newport News, VA, James E. Lewis and Thaddeus (Ernestine) Lewis, all of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Bunnie, Christi, Regnelle, Adam, Jaime, Berl, Kevin, Katlyn, Brittany, Tomeka, Tamel, Tom, An-War', Laquita, Alesha, Isaiah and RaShaun; twenty-two great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
