Idel Marie Gray, 68, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Barbour Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Smithfield.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 26, 2023 from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Golden Gate Cemetery in Pikeville.

Idel was born in Lenoir County on January 2, 1955 to the late Robert Gray and Claudia Sutton Gray.

She is survived by her son, Jamaal Alabbass, aka “Pappy” and wife, Kisha; four grandchildren, Shameeka Campbell, Jamaal R. Alabbaas, Rashid Alabbaas and Jamir Alabbbaas; one brother, Curtis Gray; one sister, Barbara Yelverton; three great grandchildren, Cassady Alabbaas, Jameela Alabbaas and Malik Lofton; three nieces, Patricia (Anthony) Taylor, Akeisha Gray and Elaine Gray and three nephews, Marcus Johnson Jr., Edward (Kamillah) Gray and Tyia Gray.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Charles Gray and Robert Gray and one sister, Diane Gray.
