George Edwin Hall

On January 25, 1948, George Edwin Hall was born in Wayne County. He was the third of nine children born to Marcellus Hall Sr. and Lucille Sauls Hall. George completed his earthly journey and transitioned from labor to reward on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Kitty Askins in Goldsboro, N.C.

Homegoing service will be held Friday, December 12, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Holy Temple Pentecostal Free Will Holy Church, 307 S. Wilson Street in Fremont.  Interment will follow at Golden Gate Cemetery in Pikeville.  Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church.

George was reared at an early age in Fremont NC and remained in Fremont his entire life until his death.  He joined Holy Temple Church, February 28, 1981. He was a faithful member and was ordained as an Elder on May 26th, 1988. He had a passion for singing, cleaning and upkeeping the church, and making sure the outside was beautified. George loved his children, family, and his church family dearly. He loved the Lord, and you could always hear him say “Ain’t God Good”, and you could find him at the church praying, cleaning, painting (lol). You could find him in the streets witnessing and compelling people to come to Jesus.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his brothers, Roy Chester Hall, Steven Arthur Hall, Raymond Lee Hall and Marcellus Hall Jr.

Left to cherish his legacy is his children, Surkette Sutton, Teresa Barnes and Kim Hall. his six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; his siblings: Alberta Hall, Carolyn Hall, both of Fremont, NC, Evangelist Sentera Tucker and Pastor Diane Forte (Greg) of Pikeville, NC. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a church family who loved him dearly.
