Edward Earl Aswell, 77, of Grantham passed away Saturday afternoon. He was born in Greene County on October 24, 1946 to the late Wayne Benjamin and Lessie Best Aswell.
A service to celebrate his life will be held by the graveside on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 3 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the service.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Aswell; a son, John Aswell and wife, Jane, of Reidsville; a daughter, Kristy Oates and husband, Donny, of Chapel Hill; two granddaughters, Natalie and Lauren; and one great-granddaughter, Skylar.
He is also survived by siblings, Jean Hollowell of Grantham, Bobby Aswell of Kentucky and Gary Aswell of Burgaw.
Ed, an Air Force veteran, member of The Grange, and deacon at Selah Christian Church in Grantham, was well known for his tireless service to the community. When not helping others, he enjoyed fishing and cheering on the NC State Wolfpack. And while he loved cooking for family and friends, he perhaps loved eating even more. Ed enjoyed life to the fullest.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Selah Christian Church. Please keep the family in your prayers during this difficult time.
Services have been entrusted to the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
