Mrs. Lancaster was born on July 5, 1955 to the late Alexander and Edna King Hendrick.
Edna Jane Lancaster was a loving wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend to many. Her role as a wife, Mother, and Grandmother was the most important to her. There is where she drew her strength and left her legacy. She had the nicknames of “MeMa” and “Ma Jane”. She was married to her husband, Nickie for 49 years and loved him dearly. She would sometimes call him, “Nickodemus”. She was described as a “Plain Jane” but strong-willed kind of person. She wasn’t into fashion, Glamour, or Jewels; however, she had a heart of gold. Her family was her treasure. She was not a person to put herself above or before others, for when she prepared meals, she always would be the last one to eat. Her favorite time of year was Christmas. She would always enjoy going shopping for her Grandchildren and buying them toys. In her earlier years, she worked with Imperial Foods which became Sunburst Foods from 1985-1999. After leaving Sunburst Foods, she became an In Home Caregiver. She cared for her brother-in-law, Randy and also cared for other clients in and around different communities. As of December 2015, her life started to consist of several obstacles and she struggled in her last years from the sickness that lead to her departure from this life. Yet, through it all, the love she had for her family never wavered. Jane was a beautiful, sweet, and loving soul who impacted the lives of everyone she encountered. God blessed her with his love and light that glowed in her and through her. The self-less simple life she lived definitely touched the lives of many. Of all the things Jane would say, the most important she would want everyone to remember; especially, her family and friends is a quote she would often say: “I LOVE YOU, BOO COO’S”! MeMa, Ma Jane, you will truly be missed!
She is survived by her husband, Nickie Lancaster; one son, Nickolas Lancaster of Goldsboro; one daughter, Sherry Shelby and husband, Tom of Goldsboro; three brothers, Ken and John Hendrick and Lonnie Leopard and wife, Jean; two sisters, Betty Corbett and husband, Richard and Gail Hendrick and three grandchildren, Darren Lancaster, Dillon Lancaster and Tori Shelby.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lancaster was preceded in death by her grandson, Austin Lancaster.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
