Earnestine (McCumber) Lewis

Earnestine Lewis, 93, of Goldsboro went to her heavenly home Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Helping Hands Assisted Living in Goldsboro. 

Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 3, 2023 at 3 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel in Dudley. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2:30 p.m. in the mausoleum chapel.

Mrs. Lewis was born in Wayne County on May 10, 1930 to the late Ernest Leo and Polly Hobbs McCumber. She retired from Cherry Hospital as a LPN.

She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Tony Lewis and wife, Pat of Goldsboro; two daughters, Jackie Butler of Goldsboro and Sheila Doherty of Goldsboro; son-in-law, Glenn Coltrane of Goldsboro; sister-in-law, Linda W. McCumber; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Cecil Lewis; one daughter, Melody Diane Coltrane; son-in-law, Kenneth Butler; brother, James Calvin McCumber and two grandchildren, Tina Lynn Lewis and Michael Anthony Lewis. 

The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Helping Hands Assisted Living and Gentiva Hospice for all their love and care shown to them and Mrs. Lewis.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
