Dorothy Jean (Britt) Ellis

Dorothy Jean Ellis, 90, of Goldsboro went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill.

Funeral service will be held Monday, March 23, 2026 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro with visitation afterwards.  A private burial will be held afterwards.

Mrs. Ellis was born in Wayne County on January 10, 1936 to the late David Britt Sr. and Lola Fail Britt. She was a member of United in Christ Church in Goldsboro where she was faithful while her health permitted.

Cherishing her memories are her three sons, James "Peanut" Ellis, David Ray Ellis and Joshua Bryant Ellis; one daughter, Renee Gay; four grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Ellis; one son, Jason Britt Ellis; two daughters, Billie Jean Ellis and Delores Ellis and two brothers, David Britt Jr. and William E. Britt.
