Dorothy Irene Cogdell, 82, of Dudley passed away Sunday evening, February 22, 2026 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. Entombment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Cogdell was born in Duplin County on February 10, 1944. She was a member of White Oak Newton Grove Disciples Church and she was retired from Cherry Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel Cogdell; one son, Demetrius Cogdell (Crystal) of Dudley; one brother, Morrise Yelverton of Clinton; three sisters, Brenda Ann Smith of South Carolina, Annette Platt of South Carolina and Esther Lee of Clinton; four grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Morrise and Annie Robertson Yelverton, Mrs. Cogdell was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Roberts; one brother, Terry Lee Yelverton and one son-in-law, Rod Roberts.
