Doris Edmundson Gurganus, 81, departed this earthly life Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Mount Olive Center.

Mrs. Gurganus was born in Wayne County on December 7, 1943 to the late William Henry and Rachel Dawson Edmundson.  While her health permitted, she worshipped at Pikeville PFWB Church and Faro Chapel PFWB Church.

She is survived by her son, Terry Bizzell and wife, Julie of Newton Grove; one grandson, Jackson Bizzell; two step-grandchildren, Aubrey Williams and Gabriele Rousseau and husband, Mitch and one brother-in-law, Earl Mumford of Florida.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Clay Bizzell; five brothers, Gene Edmundson, William Edmundson Jr., Edward Lee Edmundson, Frederick Oscar Edmundson and Kenneth Ray Edmundson and two sisters, Elizabeth Edmundson Baker and Marie Edmundson Mumford.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Eureka Cemetery.  The family will greet friends following the service.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
