Doris Lee Evans

Doris Lee Evans, 94, of Newport formerly of Goldsboro went to her heavenly home Monday, June 21, 2021 at Croatan Ridge Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

The body will lie in state Friday, June 25, 2021 from 3 to 4 p.m. for those who wish to view at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.  A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton. 

Doris was born in Johnston County on September 14, 1926 to the late Hardy and Hettie Daughtry Pearce.  She was the wife of the late Wilbert Evans.  Doris was a member of Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn Herring (George) of Cedar Point, N.C., Leroy Evans of Rocky Mount, N.C., Patsy Wise (Danny) of Dudley, N.C., a special friend, John Waters of Goldsboro, N.C.; grandchildren, Benton Herring (Marcia), Lynda Herring (Jerry Smigelski) Tony Evans (Karen), Dana Evans, Bobby Lee Gooding (Shirley Proctor), Rodney Gooding (Lee Ann) and Tommy Wise; 9 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Sorrell (Yates); several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by an infant son, five brothers, two sisters and two grandsons.
