Donald "Don" Rand Barnes Jr.

Donald Rand “Don” Barnes Jr, 62, departed this walk of life Tuesday, October 17, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his family.

Funeral service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday morning, October 21, 2023, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.  Interment will follow at Pikeville Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.

Don was born in Wayne County March 17, 1961, to the late Donald Rand Barnes and Shelby Crawford Barnes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Barnes and nephew, Bryan Creech.  Don is survived by his sister, Becky Christianson and husband, Gary; his brother, Jerry Barnes; Uncle R.B. Crawford and wife, Judy; Aunt, Faye Barnes; Nephew Tyler Barnes and wife, Rachel; Nieces, Michelle Cuddington and husband, Jamey, SteAnna Barnes, Haley Hyatt; Cousins, Tammy Jones and daughter Katlyn, Tracy Fitzgerald and husband, Matt, Terry Pridgen and husband, Randy; several great nieces and nephews; and a very special companion, Patti Gibson who resided in the home.

Don thoroughly enjoyed spending his time fishing at Cape Lookout National Seashore, trapping, squirrel hunting with his dog Cash and spending quality time with his friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Dons memory to SECU Hospice House, 426 Hospital Rd Smithfield NC 27577 and Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church, 1283 Union Grove Church Rd, Fremont, NC 27830.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
