Donald F. Goodwin Sr. fell asleep in death on Saturday, February 20, 2021 (John 11:11-15). He was married to Barbara J. Goodwin for 33 years and had 5 children, 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. To cherish his memory he leaves his two sons, Donald F. Goodwin Jr., Douglas M. Goodwin, four daughters, Debra (Romero) Myrick, Laura Thorpe, Kathy (Goodwin) Stevens, and Carrie Goodwin and grandchildren, Danny Goodwin, Robert Lance Nunn, Emily Goodwin, Timothy Goodwin, Nathaniel Goodwin, Clifton Stevens, Tanner Stevens, and Tyler Stevens. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Roberta Ann Lindsey and grandchildren, Kara Jean McDermott, Michael Brandon Nunn and Brian Romero.
No formal service will be held.
He owned and operated Expert Cleaning Systems carpet cleaning company for over 25 years. He loved going to the ocean and camped many times at the beach with his family. He also traveled to many places with his family and close friends. He also enjoyed sitting watching TV with his dog Stella on his lap.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and highly praised the VA for saving his life twice.
He became one of Jehovah's Witnesses on Jan 24, 1987 and dedicated his life to teaching God's word the Bible to as many people as he could. He had many privileges in serving our King Jesus Christ and his father Jehovah God including attending International Conventions in Hawaii and Rome, Italy. He most looked forward to when the earth became a paradise again where he would welcome back his deceased loved one after he himself was awakened from death, (John 5:25-30 & Rev. 32:3-4).
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
