David James Fields

David James Fields, 83, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, October 22, 2023 at UNC Health Wayne in Goldsboro.
 

Homegoing service will be held Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 6 p.m. at Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro.  The family will receive friends following the service.  A graveside service will be held Friday, October 27, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery in Newton Grove.

 

Mr. Fields was born in Johnston County on May 25, 1940 to the late Rufus and Nora Grant Fields. He was a faithful member of Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. After retiring from Burlington Industries with 25 years, he became a poultry farmer and enjoyed being self employed until his final retirement, at which time he enjoyed working around his home, gardening and spending time with his family. Mr. Fields was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
 

He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Jernigan Fields; one daughter, April Fields Daw and husband, Troy of Goldsboro; and two grandchildren, Camden and Analeigh Daw.
