Chief Master Sergeant Gordon Blaine Decker Jr., Retired, passed away on July 8, 2025, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, North Carolina, at the age of 60.

Born July 10, 1964, in Ashtabula, Ohio, he really called Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania his home and Pittsburgh Steelers his favorite sport team.

Gordon dedicated his life to service. He embarked on a distinguished military career that spanned more than two decades in the United States Air Force across various commands and responsibilities, here in the USA and around the world. In 2010, after 24 years of honorable service, he retired to Goldsboro, North Carolina - a community he chose to call his new home.

Gordon’s legacy is etched not only in his military accomplishments but also in the lives of those who served alongside him and those who knew him beyond the uniform. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and honor to the nation he so faithfully served.

Gordon is survived by his wife of 22 years, Sonia; his sisters, Linda Frederick and Brenda Jacobs and his brother, Jeff Decker.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Decker Sr. and Marie Decker; his sister, Melody Bush and his brother, Marty Decker.
