Bettye Bruce Blackmon Joyner, 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday afternoon, October 6, 2023 at home surrounded by her loved ones.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.  Burial will follow at Golden Gate Cemetery in Pikeville. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1 until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Joyner was born in Greene County on July 15, 1935 and was a member of Word of Truth Christian Fellowship in Goldsboro. 

She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Wenda S. Wright of Durham; three sons, George D. Freeman of Virginia, Joseph C. Joyner (Pamela) of Pennsylvania and Jerrold L. Joyner of Maryland; one brother, Michael Spells (Debra) of Virginia; one sister, Marvel "Gail" Warner of Texas; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Whitley and Selma Blackmon Spells and her sister, Billie J. Hobbs.
