Betty Jean (Cobb) Lawson

Betty Jean Cobb Lawson, 71, of Goldsboro passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at UNC Health Wayne in Goldsboro.

A memorial service will be held Monday, May 1, 2023 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.  The family will receive friends following the service. 

Ms. Lawson was born in Wayne County on May 24, 1951 to the late Rudolph Shade Cobb and Vivian Inez Henderson Cobb.

She leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter, Marvetta Cobb-Joyner (Jewel) of Goldsboro; one son, Charles Durrell Cobb (Carlina) of Raleigh.

Seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, Lavonda Powell, (Gavin, Aubrey, and Payton), Bruce Wynn Jr., Shaunaya Gunter, (Eissabella), Azia Cobb, (Aniya, Brayden and Carmello), Brianna Moody, (Aria, Demi and Dream), Kiante Cobb, Tre’Vaughn Grady.

One brother, Larry Donnell Cobb of Goldsboro; three sisters, Lorraine Cobb Johnson of Goldsboro, Vivian Irene Cobb Lewis (Richard) of Goldsboro and Yatosha Cooper of East Orange, New Jersey and a host of other relatives and friends. She will be missed by all.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Lawson was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Ray Cobb.
