Benjamin "Ben" Mozingo Obituary

Benjamin "Ben" F. Mozingo, 90, of Goldsboro passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at home surrounded by his family.



A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at 7 p.m in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory with visitation following the service.  A private burial will be held at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro.



Ben was born on August 17, 1929 to the late Bennie Henry and Mary Carter Mozingo. He was the youngest of six children.



Ben grew up on E. Ash Street in Goldsboro where he lived his entire life. He was an Army veteran. Upon returning home from Germany, he returned to farming. After many years of farming he decided to his hand at becoming a businessman. He became very successful in many businesses including American Amoco, Hillcrest Sunoco Service Station, Mozingo Stables and Mozingo's Auto Sales Inc. in which he owned and operated until the time of his passing. He was known to many as “Uncle Ben” and he touched many lives in a positive way.



Ben was always happiest when he was spending time with his baby girl, Frankie, enjoying their many adventures traveling throughout NC and many other states showing horses. They spent 50 years together sharing their love of horses.



He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Billie Ann Caulder Mozingo of Goldsboro; his daughter, Frankie Mozingo Best and husband, Kevin Best of Goldsboro; one granddaughter Jordan Jones Dempsey and husband Mike Dempsey of Raleigh, also his daughter, Trudy Ann Brinson and husband, Ron Brinson of Goldsboro; his last surviving sibling his sister, Virginia Mozingo Lindsay of Goldsboro; a very special nephew, Earl Lindsay and wife, Jan Lindsay of Roper; a special friend he thought of as a son, James Marlow of Goldsboro; a special niece, Vivian Rowe; special friends, Joe Tudor and Richard Kindell of Goldsboro; he also has several other nieces and nephews that are special.



The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
