Barbara Jean Greene was born on October 9, 1946 to the late Charlie Newman and Pearlie Newman of Chicago, IL. She departed this life on Saturday, May 09, 2020.
Viewing will be held Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Little Rock Church of Christ in Pikeville for family and close friends. A graveside service will follow at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley.
Barbara was born in Chicago, IL. She received her diploma in 2007 from Capitol High School. She was a devoted wife to her late husband Charles Frank Greene and a committed mother to her children. She also was a foster mother for thirty-three years and cared for over 100 children as her own. She made everybody that came in her presence feel welcomed. She was a classy lady with a royalty style. She has always been a loving and strong woman with a great sense of humor. There was never a boring moment in the company of Barbara. If you knew Barbara, she always said what she meant and meant what she said. She was very outspoken but she had a heart of gold. She always gave good advice with love in her heart.
She leaves behind her two sisters, Rosa Lee Towner and Emily Driskel; her children James L. Jackson (late Mary Jackson), Edward (Eddie) Jackson, Chester Jackson, Andrew (Andy) Jackson (Dedra Jackson), Tereena Jackson (Sharon Jackson), Richard Greene (Marsha Greene), Bobby Jackson, James B. Jackson (fiancée Tasha Tucker), Eugene Jackson, Keisha Greene, Tanger Jones, Stacey Greene and Adrian Greene; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and a special friend Veronica Holmes.
