Aubry L. Chakona, 82, of Fremont went to be with his Lord on Thursday, October 10, 2024 surrounded by his family.

A graveside service to honor his life will be held Sunday, October 13, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Pikeville.  The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

Mr. Chakona was born in Forsyth County on September 10, 1942 to the late Andrew and Opal Childress Chakona. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church in Pikeville. Mr. Chakona was a veteran of the United States Army and past owner of Nahunta Grill.  He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed to do paintings.

Cherishing his memories are his daughters, Sharon Waugh (Timothy) of Knoxville, Tennessee and Teresa Nobles (Jeff) of Eureka; three grandchildren, Gabriella, Kaylee and William and his beloved pet, Mayala.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Anne Chakona and his siblings.
