Andrea LaTrice Boney

Andrea LaTrice Boney, age 43, of Goldsboro, North Carolina, passed away on May 20, 2025, at UNC Hospitals. Born on February 18, 1982 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, to Henry Lee Boney and the late Vivian G. Boney.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. A private burial will be held. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.

Andrea was a cherished sister, aunt, cousin and friend whose warmth, compassion, and vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. 

Andrea is survived by her beloved brother, Henry Boney (wife Crissy) of Raleigh, NC; her sister, Sabrina Ray (husband Jarrel) of Tampa, FL; her nieces Zoey, Savannah and Sydney, who brought her immense joy, and her father Bob Lee Lawson. She was preceded in death by her mom Vivian G. Boney, whose love and guidance shaped the person she became.

A beacon of wisdom, compassion, and perseverance, Andrea lived a life dedicated to learning, service, and community.

A proud graduate of Southern Wayne High School, Class of 2000, she set the stage early for a lifetime of academic excellence. She earned her undergraduate degree from North Carolina Central University in 2004, marking the beginning of her journey to impact lives through education and social service.

Her pursuit of knowledge continued at Capella University, where she achieved two Master of Science degrees—first in Public Administration in 2011, and then in Social and Community Services in 2016. Each degree reflected her unwavering commitment to bettering the systems and communities she served.

Throughout her distinguished career, she brought empathy, strength, and professionalism to every role she held—whether working at Nova, Abound, NC Mentor, Eastpointe, or inspiring the next generation as a professor at North Carolina Wesleyan University.

Her legacy is one of service, leadership, and love—a light that continues to guide and uplift all who knew her.

Forever in our hearts, your life remains a testimony to the power of purpose and passion.

Her legacy of kindness and generosity will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her. 

Andrea's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the medical staff at UNC Hospitals for their compassionate care during her final days.
