Alma Williams Obituary

Alma Pearl Folds Williams of Fremont, North Carolina passed away Sunday evening, December 8, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Alma was born January 9, 1935 in Westlake, Louisiana. She met and married Wallace Williams, a native of North Carolina, in 1952.  They had 5 children and lived in Louisiana until 1972.  At that time, her husband, Wallace wanting to return to his roots bought a farm and moved the family to Fremont.

Alma devoted her entire life to being a devoted wife and mom.  However, after the children were older she pursued her education, graduated from college at the age of 45, and became a teacher at Speight Middle School.  She taught for 15 years before retiring.

After retiring she enjoyed traveling with her husband, bible studies, quilting, cooking, and most of all being “Granny.”

From an early age Alma’s life was anchored in her love for God.  She accepted Christ as a child and nurtured her faith throughout her life.  She was a faithful member of Mt. Nelson Missionary Baptist Church.  She served her church in many capacities including singing in the choir, teaching classes, and serving on committees.  Alma was always willing and eager to use her spiritual gifts of helps and hospitality.  Her dedication and determination inspired those around her.

Alma can best be described as a true southern “Steel Magnolia.”

Alma is preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Williams and her daughter Debra Denise Williams.

She is survived by 4 children, 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
