Allene Jones Harris, 88, of Pikeville went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
Due to COVID-19 and governmental restrictions, a private graveside service for family will be held at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley. A memorial service will be held at a later date for family and friends.
Mrs. Harris was born in Wayne County on August 31, 1931 to the late Berry and Mattie Pearce Jones. She was a member of Belfast Pentecostal Holiness Church.
She is survived by her son, Robert E. Clayton and significant other, Gloria McCullen; her daughter, Jan Lindsey and husband, Earl of Roper, NC; one step-son, David Harris and wife, Lisa of Rosewood; one step-daughter, Anita Martin and husband, Jim of Goldsboro; three sisters, Vonnie Bailey of Kenly, Hilda Gurley of Belfast and Brenda Jones of Pikeville; three grandchildren, Tracy Lindsey, Michelle Clayton and Bobby Clayton and wife, Angela; eight great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her husband, Berford Allen Harris; two brothers, Elvin Jones and David Jones and five sisters, Rachel Allen, Otena Quinn, Nellie Enciso, Linda Jones and Myrtle Holland.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be directed to Belfast Pentecostal Holiness Church Foreign Missions.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
