Alfred Frederick Lipscomb passed away on Thursday September 16th in Goldsboro, NC.
A private service will be held.
Alfred, Al or Lip to his friends, was born on September 10th, 1938 to parents Birdie Matthews and James Lipscomb, in Baltimore MD.
Al had 2 brothers Charles and James Lipscomb, who preceded him in death. After high school Al joined the Airforce which took him to many places across the world, one of his favorites being Japan, which might be where he got his love of sushi. He retired after 30 years with the rank of MSGT. Those that knew him would say that Al was a straight shooting, no filter type of guy who always told you what was on his mind. Al loved taking care of his yard. Making sure the grass was green, planting rose bushes, and taking care of many plants. He often said that he always wanted a yard growing up in Baltimore and when he finally got one, he really let his green thumb grow. Al loved crossword puzzles and playing chess. He was also pretty funny, and loved to tell stories about his escapades in the military. One achievement Al and his family were extremely proud of was at the age of 45, while working full time and taking care of his family, Al went to night school to obtain his Bachelors in Business Administration. Al moved from Alexandria, VA to Goldsboro, NC in 2003, which is also where he married his 4th wife Ernestine Lipscomb.
Al is survived by his beautiful loving wife, Ernestine Lipscomb, and his 6 children. 4 gorgeous daughters, Maria Lipscomb, Nicole Lipscomb, Ametra Antoine and Adia Lipscomb-Mingo. 2 sons Tyron Moore and his handsomest son Jelan Lipscomb. Al also has a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Al will be missed by all, and we will carry his memories in our hearts.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
