Albert Ray Jenkins, known as “Ray”, 73, of LaGrange passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Willow Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Goldsboro.
Ray was born in Wayne County on November 27, 1950 to the late Dan L. and Alma Christine Hall Jenkins. He was a graduate of Goldsboro High School Class of 1969. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dan “Danny” Jenkins.
He was an avid gun owner, knife collector and enthusiast of anything in that realm. He was often found at the ENC Firing Range & Gun Club in Dudley, NC—a place he loved dearly and where he met many lifelong friends. Ray was always fascinated by historical events and American history. He enjoyed reading and researching the American Civil War.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories his son, Daniel Clay Jenkins and wife, Emily of Goldsboro; his daughter, Lisa Peveler and husband, Michael “Mike” of Kentucky; four grandchildren, Lauren Jenkins, Christopher Michael Peveler, Kayla Marie Peveler and Jeremey Matthew Peveler; and three great-grandchildren, Lilly Mae Peveler, Trenton Michael and Reinlee Renee Peveler.
To honor Ray’s memory, a visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 27th, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro, NC. The graveside service will immediately follow at 11:30 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley, NC.
