Add "Hump" Monroe Lancaster, 87, of Pikeville went to his heavenly home Sunday evening, July 7, 2024 at home surrounded by his family.


Funeral services will held Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.  The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.


Mr. Lancaster was born in Wayne County on November 11, 1936 to the late James Franklin and Hester Marie Hill Lancaster.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during the Korean War.  While his health permitted, he attended Saulston United Methodist Church.


He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Reba Lancaster; two sons, Jeff Monroe Lancaster and wife, Janie of Benson and Charles Tracey Lancaster of San Diego, California; step-daughter, Kimberly Gerrell Taylor of Pikeville; one sister, Dolly Mozingo of Wilson; sister-in-law, Edna Lancaster of Wilmington; brother-in-law, Jimmie Green of Wilson; his granddaughter, Kaitlynn McKenleigh Taylor and numerous nieces and nephews that he loved very much.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy Lancaster, Clovis "Chick" Lancaster and Bobby Lancaster and two sisters, Agnes Ann Green and Ruby Hicks.
