William “Bob” Bernice Barnes, 84, passed away Saturday, October 06, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 09, 2018 at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. The family will receive friends following the service. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.
Bob was born in Wayne County on January 12, 1934 to the late Perry Clenon Barnes and Nancy Irene Langley Barnes. He was a life-long member of Fremont Holiness Church.
He is survived by two sons, Bernice “Bud” Barnes of Pikeville and Gary Barnes and wife, Beckie of Pikeville; five daughters, Alice Lieder and husband, Tim of Pinkney, Mary Ann “Mousie” Howell and husband, Donald of Pikeville, Bobbie Barnes and husband, Danny of Pikeville, Linda Parks and husband, Morris of Mount Olive and Nancy Barnes of Pikeville; one step-daughter, Tracy Ginn of Goldsboro; one brother, Jim Barnes and wife, Faye of Pikeville; one sister, Nook Green and husband, June Bug of Fremont; half sister-in-law, Rachel Barnes of Dudley; nineteen grandchildren, including Angie Talton, Amy Grant, Lisa James, Vickie Thomas, Rex Mooring Jr., Deborah George , Ashley Barnes, Lee Ann Barnes, Denise Smith, Angel Barnes, Krystal Phillips, Lindsay Parks and Bud Barnes Jr.; twenty-four great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and one on the way!
Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Beatrice Barnes, his second wife, Nancy Cavenaugh Barnes; his step-daughter, Shirley Rose Martinez; his brother, Bert Barnes; his half-brother, J.P. Barnes; his sisters, Doris Jones, Darlene Mooring and Doodle Talton.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
