Silas Redding Lucas Jr., 88, beloved father, grandfather, great and great-great grandfather left us on April 25, 2019.
Silas was a custom home builder for many years before concentrating on commercial construction. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Wilson County Shrine Club. He was instrumental in the consolidation of the Wilson County School board and was Vice Chairman of the interim board during the time the two systems were merged. Silas served in the Army National Guard and put his college education on hold when he enlisted in the Air Force during the war with Korea.
He is survived by one son, Robert Garry Lucas of Lucama; one daughter, Terrye Aycock and husband, Gerald of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, Michael Sadler and wife, Angela, Ryan Sadler and wife, Brandy, Kevin Aycock and Kelly Shiel and husband, Tom; four great grandchildren, Mikayla, Haley, Katherine and Annebelle and two great-great grandchildren, Lucas and Autumn.
The last four years Silas has resided at Brookdale Country Day Road and enjoyed the fellowship of the residents and staff. We cannot thank the staff at the Brian Center in Goldsboro for the tender loving care he received and the support they gave his family.
There will be no formal services. The family will honor his wishes of his ashes being dispersed at his most favorite place at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Shiner’s Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607 US or todonorelations@shrinenet.org.
